Barb, a customer recently purchased my Bows & Frames Set 2. She wants to know how to use the frames. She is using Photo Shop Elements 5.0
::Tutorial::
In this set, a Photoshop PSD file and 2 separate PNG files are included to create each bended frame.
For Photoshop users:
01) Open a PSD file. We are going to use ALKOH_bowframeset2_frame1
It should look like this in your screen. I am using PSCS3 extended so the menu/icons may be placed elsewhere but in this PSD file, you will be able to use all functions. For safety, duplicate the file. Go to File -Save As and add a new title to this PSD template. Example name: Frame1. Click OK. Your PSD file that is open now has changed to Frame1.psd. (see top left of file). IMPORTANT::This is necessary so you could leave the original file the way it is and play around with your duplicated file.
02) Click File-Open to find the photo you want to use. Select photo and click OK. Your photo will open up in Photoshop.
03) Making sure your photo is selected, Right-Click on the layer and Duplicate. A pop up window will asked where you want to duplicate your photo to. Click on the tiny arrow button next to 'Document' and select the file name you want to the photo to be. In this instance, we will choose ALKOH_bowframeset2_frame1.
04) Check to see that the photo has been duplicated into the PSD file named 'background'. Close the original photo file. Make sure the photo layer (titled background) is placed in between the 'Folds' and 'Photo' layer.

05) Adjust your picture to your liking. Make sure you click on the 'lock' button when you want to resize your picture. See tutorial here. While the picture layer is still marked, CTRL+Click mouse (ALT+Click for MAC PC) on the bottom layer (photo). This is the template to cut out your photo. You will see marching ants around the photo.
06) Go to Edit - Copy. Then Edit - Paste. A new cut out layer will appear at the top of the picture layer. Click 'eye' to remove the bottom picture layer.
07) Now you have the photo in the frame. You can make adjustment to the picture. Use dodge and burn tools to darken and highlight the edges of the picture. Use Hue/Saturation to give it an aged look.... When you are happy with the result, marked all layers and merged. You have now only one layer in your file.
Note: This is why I advised you to duplicate your PSD file so the original remain intact.
08 ) Open a new file to create your layout. Simply drag the photo frame into the new file and add wrapped bow/s provided with my Bows & Frames Set2.
Hope this tutorial helps.
